We love rugby

Rugby is loved and followed all over the world. It is our national game and it is the most played sport in New Zealand.

Rugby originated in 1845 Warwickshire, England. Rugby was famously an amateur sport until the IRB declared the game open in 1995, by removing restrictions on payments to players.

The creation of rugby is said to be an accident. In England 1823 a group of people were playing soccer when William Webb-Ellis picked up the ball and ran with it. That’s why the rugby world cup trophy is named after William Webb-Ellis.

Rugby is a great to keep your fitness levels up and your weight low. To increase your fitness levels and to maintain your weight eat healthy and exercise regularly. So get off the couch, trade in your remote for a rugby ball and your slippers for some boots and go and join your local rugby club.
